History Of The Old Post Road Area Association
The Old Post Road Historic Association, founded in 1952 was originally established on the principals of maintaining, enhancing and protecting the nature of the Old Post Road Historic Area.
The founders wanted to encourage the general public to visit the Fairfield Historic area to learn about our History: The Old Town Hall, the Sun Tavern and Old Fairfield Academy School building.
Over the years, many of the neighbors living in the Beach area and other adjoining streets wanted to become a part of this Organization. On or about 1980, the Old Post Road Association added “Area” so that all the neighbors in Fairfield in the Historic Area could join and be a part of a Historic group, founded to preserve and protect our neighborhood.
There was an “unwritten rule” introduced at this time that stated if anything adversely affected anyone in the “area” of the Old Post Road, then it affected all. From this point going forward, The Old Post Road Area Association maintained strict enforcement of this rule and helped many neighbors over the years.
